Yes, experienced guides lead tours during the Festival, offering insights into local bird species and their habitats. The Birder's Pass provides a comprehensive experience for birders.
Where can I find retail services near the Festival?
Kandos and Rylstone are near the Capertee Valley. These are approximately a 40 minute drive each way from Glen Alice Hall.
Kandos has an IGA Supermarket, pharmacy, post office, bakery, a GP, two service stations, and a charity shop with a huge array of household items, books, movies and music in various formats.
Rylstone has a smaller supermarket, butcher, bakery, newsagent and postal agency, a hospital, a hardware store, and an ag store, as well as a great selection of cafes and restaurants and pubs.
Can I buy meals during the Capertee Valley Bird Festival?
The Capertee Valley does not have a retail area, there is one cafe; From the Paddock Farm Market and Cafe.
In 2025, the Birder's Pass includes the option to add a lunch pack for Saturday in your pass purchase. While morning and afternoon tea will be available for purchase at the Birder's Pass speaker session venues where free coffee and tea will be available too.
The Festival organisers are offering pre-ordered lunch packs. Lunch Packs can be ordered here.
There will also be a variety of food and refreshments available to purchase from Glen Alice and Glen Davis Halls, throughout the Festival. Tap facilities are available at both venues.
The evening event on Saturday includes dinner in the ticket price.
The Friday evening photography exhibition opening and the screening of "Happy Feet" events will both have food available for purchase.
What should I bring to the Capertee Valley Bird Festival?
Bring binoculars, a field guide, your camera, comfortable clothing for outdoor activities, and any personal essentials for a day out in the field and in speaker sessions.
If I break down, what happens?
Please drive carefully, as some walks and activities involve dirt tracks which may be unsuitable for some vehicles.
If you experience a breakdown, make sure you are in a safe place and can contact your vehicle recovery provider. Alternatively, local mechanic, Ray on 0412 433 160, will be on call throughout the weekend and can assist with recovery and repair.
